Tomorrow, Cambridge and Somerville enact a smoking ban in all bars and restaurants. The dives just won't seem quite as dive-y without that blue cloud hanging overhead, but ultimately, this ban is a good thing.
I think I'll wander over to my favorite little dark, smokey bar and have a pint before heading home, for old times' sake.
posted by jenblossom at 03:29 PM | chat (0)Once again, I have to comment on how quickly this year is passing. I can't believe it will be October tomorrow! I'm wearing tights for the second time in the last couple of weeks, and I think we're not far from turning the furnace on at the apartment. The teevee weatherman has actually predicted frost for one night later this week.
I'm not at all unhappy about this; Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I love crisp mornings and snuggly sweaters and Oktoberfest brews and the smell of burning leaves... but knowing that Fall is here, and winter's not far behind, makes me realize that I have got to get the ball rolling on my Next Big Thing.
Stay tuned...
posted by jenblossom at 09:59 AM | chat (2)It was a long weekend. But oh so good. And far too short, as always. And here, my love list for the weekend:
Lotsandlotsandlots of Love:
*seeing that face
*making him dinner
*watching and listening to him talk about something he really loves
*drinkies with friends
*Cafe Lalo
*cheese plate!
*mmmm... Katz Deli. (we spent how much on lunch?)
*meeting Lorna and her beautiful kids
*surprise Kirappearances
*lazy Library afternoons
*yummy Mexican dinners, featuring pitchers of margaritas and giant volcanic craters of guacamole
*and good friends
*Lost in Translation. Go see it now.
*sleeping in
*coffee and bagels and Amelie
*strange, funny, misdirected voice mail messages
*his kisses still make my knees weak
Please stop dying off like this. It's unsettling.

In a nutshell, 130 cats have been removed from an abandoned hosue in Milwaukee. There are more inside, and as you can imagine, the entire house is filled with excrement, bugs, trash... you name it. The owner of the house died in 1997, and her son continued to feed the animals there. Apparently, the animals, having a reliable source of food and water, stayed in the house and bred there.
