May 29, 2005 — Oh Happy Day

FreshDirect is now delivering to our address. Which means no more lugging 8 bags of groceries and 14 lb. boxes of cat litter on the train, no more spending the better part of a day (not to mention much of my rather limited energy) making trips to the butcher, the fishmonger, the fruit and vegetable market, and various specialty markets just to get our basics for the week... THEY WILL BRING THEM TO MY DOOR.

May 24, 2005 — Such a Tart

In keeping with my current obsession with All Things French, last night's Meatless Monday dinner took a decidedly Provencal turn... a simple tart filled with caramelized onions, kalamata olives, and tomatoes, topped at the end with crumbles of soft fresh goat cheese. Served with a salad of tossed mesclun and heirloom tomatoes, it was a delicious light meal.

The tart recipe can be found in the June 2005 issue of Cooking Light magazine, on newsstands now.
