signs of spring

I ventured out early this morning, mostly because I knew Flying Pigs Farm would be at the Greenmarket today. Though they didn't have everything I had hoped to get, I made a haul - leaf lard, a couple of packages of fresh belly, and some chops which I'll cook up tomorrow. As always, it was impossible for me to leave there without picking up a few unplanned-for extras - a new cat grass plant, some cheeses, and these tulips.

Mike's in the bedroom burrowed under the covers and snoozing, still in the throes of this flu-ish thing he's had all week (his fever has finally broken - a good thing). Dub's curled up at his feet, also sound asleep. I've got our biggest pot on the stove, the makings of chicken stock simmering away inside - I'll make soup for us later on. I've got a stack of new cookbooks on the sofa (thank you Joe and Bill & Abbie), a fleece throw, a space heater cutting through the chill of the afternoon, and a Kali waiting for me to come back and sit with her. Think I'll do just that.

February 23, 2006 — Decisions, decisions.

I can't decide if I should attempt this. I do have ideas, but as I mentioned, I'm lacking a bit of the spark.

Thoughts?

blahs and blarghy

My husband is sick. He's home again today, which is a good thing - he needs to rest and shake this. Unfortunately, I'm at work, and dragging... neither of us have slept well the last few nights.

I've got a bad case of the midwinter blahs, which is not being helped by job angst, grey skies, and the prospect of jury duty next week. I'm feeling uninspired, flat, unmotivated to do anything. I'm bored with my choices. And I hate feeling this way.

Home

Wonderful visit to see my husband's people, bookended by nightmarish travel nonsense. I gained back four pounds, three of which are most certainly in pork products.

It was all so very worth it.

Tired now. Much to catch up on, but for now, I have a couple of kitties to make up to. More soon...ish.
